Summary:
A key member of the Kings Health & Performance Team, the Assistant Performance Coach will spend significant time on the front-line interfacing with players- implementing training plans, delivering education around training, recovery, and nutrition, and developing processes to optimize long-term athlete development and short-term player readiness. They will capture, organize, and analyze various data streams to answer performance questions (with the Director of Performance & Sport Science) and will deliver updates and insights regularly and effectively to the group. Above all, they will make a significant impact on the culture (environment), bringing enthusiasm, a positive attitude, a growth mindset, a collaborative spirit, and professional maturity expected of a role in the NBA. They will thrive as a developing leader in an integrated, team-centric culture, relentlessly focused on the delivery of services to optimize player health and performance.
Responsibilities
& Expectations:
• Assist with implementation of a comprehensive athlete assessment plan, including but not limited to: Movement Quality, Neuromuscular Control, Body Composition, Bioenergetics, and Strength-Power
• Assist with development and implementation of individualized X-Needs, performance programming, and monitoring strategies
• Assist with implementation of in-season performance monitoring and management processes- including hydration, nutrition, and the collection of data via wearable sensors and relevant sport technologies
• Lead data collection and performance profiling using force plate technology, including creation of reports in-season, and comprehensive analysis post-season
• Assist with the Recovery Team- provide leadership, create structure, processes, content, education in collaboration with team members, evaluate tools, technologies, research to ensure evidence-focused best practices
• Assist medical, nutrition and psychology staffs with delivery of educational and wellness initiatives to athletes
• Proactively seek opportunities for collaboration across the team to elevate health and performance of all players
• Execute priority projects as assigned by Director
• Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning (kaizen) and personal and professional growth
Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Kinesiology or Exercise Science required
• CSCS certification required, RSCC preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years in an elite sports performance environment
• Competency with key technologies
• Current CPR, First Aid & AED certifications
Other:
• The position requires unconventional hours and regular travel both in and out of season, and frequent work outside of normal business hours to ensure all deadlines and responsibilities are met
• Must be eligible (remain eligible) to work legally in the United States
