POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for identifying, casting, negotiating and hiring for all Specialty Dancers, Dancer/ Aerialists, Featured Ballroom Dancers, Featured Hand Balance Acts, Featured Aerialists, Featured High Divers, Divers, Synchronized Swimmers, Slackliners, Contortionists, Sufi and Acrobats for all Royal Caribbean. This position is directly related to the ultimate guest experience and ratings when it pertains to any of the Entertainment/Theater venues onboard. This role is vital to the overall specialty casting operations of the Entertainment Production Department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Casts all specialty Dancer, Acrobat, Diver, Synchronized Swimmer, Featured Aerial Acts, Featured Divers, Featured Ballroom Dancers and Featured Hand Balance Acts.
Measures the effectiveness of each seasoned professional according to style and technical ability that best compliments each individual track in each specific show.
Maintain a `finger on the pulse¿ of what is happening in the commercial dance world in order to drive the strategic vision as set by Entertainment Department.
Build and maintain relationships and synergies with contemporary and commercially driven talent outlets.
Serves as the internal expert in this field and partners with management to maximize talent required ultimately related to the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall portfolio of shows.
Works within the internal casting contracting system to generate and deliver offers/proposals and negotiates agreements for all performers.
Analyzes and identifies problems, with product and performers while attending rehearsals to maintain the quality standards.
Solely casts and confirms all replacement contracts to include booking cabins, requesting costumers, confirm valid & approved medicals, passports or any additional documentation.
Assists in the interviews and presents final candidates for ALL leadership roles to the Manager, Casting Operations and Manager, Artistic Integrity.
Coordinate and provides all agents with updated audition material directly for their clients.
Manages and executes necessary documentation for production assistant on all details for cast member¿s shoreside rehearsals and on-board contract.
Additional administrative responsibility includes creating SEAforms for ACPs (Assignment Completion Payments) for all performers in the fleet at the end of each contract.
Review cast snapshots with each casting specialist to identify final candidates for each show/ship to present to the Manager, Casting Operations for final review/approval
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in a related field preferred.
At least Five plus years¿ experience in the entertainment industry.
Experience working in commercial projects (ie back up dancer, movies, television, etc.) a huge plus.
Cruise industry experience both in shipboard and shore side are a plus.
Excellent understanding of policies and procedures regarding work ethics, hiring and termination of personnel.
Experience in Microsoft programs - Excel, Word, Lotus Notes Must have good problem-solving skills and ability to manage last minute emergencies in a calm and organized manner.
Able to work long hours and weekends when required.
Able to travel if required.
The role must have the ability to think critically, use independent judgment and exercise key decision-making and project management skills.
Must have excellent presentation and interpersonal skills to communicate in a multicultural environment with all levels of employees and management.
Ability to read and interpret business documents as well as to write and generate reports and procedures.
Proficiency of Entertainment knowledge used in the production and implementation of all Entertainment matters.
Excellent knowledge of current library of Production Shows to include understanding of talent requirements and tracking.
Excellent communications skills and strong decision-making abilities.
Knowledge in negotiation process.
Proficient written and verbal communication skills. Spanish speaking skills a plus.
Ability to make sound judgment calls and have very effective problem-solving skills.
Ability to take complete ownership of a problem and seeing it through to a resolution.
Knowledgeable of Microsoft software: Excel, Word, Outlook.
Knowledgeable in recruiting and selecting cast members.
Knowledge of necessary documentation and other travel requirements for cast members.
Knowledge of all contract specifics to provide details to new cast members.
Extensive knowledge of all styles of Dance (Jazz, Ballet, Tap, Contemporary and Hip Hop)
Become an expert on the below specialty performer types:
Gymnastics/Acrobatics; floor work, fast track and trampoline.
Aerial work: hand to hand, one and two-point harness, bungee, silks, lira, hoop. Trapeze, halo, hand loop, and 3D flying.
Diving: 3M, 7M ,10M Platform Diving.
Synchronize Swimming: (Ability to identify technique in eggbeaters traveling across a pool, arms held high, as well as footage of vertical positions for an extended length of time. Lines, feet and form parameters).
Ballroom: Samba, Rhumba, Jive, Cha Cha, show dance and Musical Theater
Understand BMX trick rider¿s strengths.
Understand Skills and Qualities needed for Slackliners.
Hand to Hand Balancing Act. (recognize strength line and consistency)
