We are seeking an individual who lives and breathes film to lead programming across our global venues based out of our LA office. The ideal candidate will be able to naturally adapt their programming skills to serve the core Rooftop customer and will leverage data to build and optimize our programming schedules. They will be obsessively tuned into the cultural zeitgeist and will have a knack for understanding audience preferences and nuances between markets. You will be supported by a Programming Coordinator and will report directly to the company founder.
*Customer-centric programming*
Deliver an engaging, varied and exciting program that aligns with the preferences and tastes of our core audience
Suggest programming variations that will allow us to strategically expand our audience reach on select occasions
Take ownership of our 10 years of sales data to understand the factors and variables that result in a commercially successful screening
Continuously test new programming into our lineup to grow our catalog of films that resonate with the core Rooftop audience
Maintain up-to-date research of the market and have a good knowledge of our competitors and their approach to programming both in the UK and US
Observe and acknowledge the film preferences across our different markets to ensure we are maximizing our local appeal and relevance
Manage the cinemas schedule and program with onsite Tech and Projection staff, ensuring program is technically implemented by yourself or relevant member of staff
Track internal film-sales data and update programming strategy to identify titles that are becoming obsolete to our audience
*Relationship management and admin*
Represent the company's interest in the film industry to ensure Rooftop Cinema Club is top of mind and present in the right circles
Source, create and maintain strong relationships with film studios, distributors and media with the aim of acquiring access to the best filmic content
Uploading studio licenses and invoices into accounts system within appropriate time-frame for payment
Managing approvals and reconciling box office returns, reporting on box office figures to Head of Finance
Educating studios on our experience and the opportunity to screen premieres on DCP when appropriate
Arranging with studios for DCP New Releases for relevant events
Maintain film library of accurate content for venues
*Marketing collaboration*
Work alongside marketing team to understand and implement key launch dates and timings.
Propose relevant films and/or creative filmic elements to enhance the marketing strategy. For example, themed weekends, special film celebrations and additional content that makes our program stand out from the competition and creates talking-points for our marketing channels
Actively seek talent representation for special introductions and Q&As on-site and via video. Talent can be contacted via film studio contacts and film PRs for example.
Host Q&As and Introductions to special film content at venues
Source talent related to titles to enhance film events for audience
Work with sponsorship partners to facilitate film requests and assist their involvement and growth throughout the season
Recommend and license one-off films for partners and private hire events
Work with the PR and events team on one-off events
*Qualifications and Education Requirements*
Bachelors
5-10 years of festival programming experience
3+ years commercial programming experience
Track record of adapting to audience demand
Familiarity with UK culture a big plus

Technical DCP Knowledge preferred
