Vice President – Business & Legal Affairs
The Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs will be responsible for structuring, negotiating and drafting of documentation for a wide variety of television programming/content, development, production and distribution transactions, including but not limited to, movies, miniseries and series.
Responsibilities:
This position will be responsible for project/deal negotiations and drafting agreements for development, production, financing, distribution and licensing of television product and other rights.
Negotiate and draft development (including underlying rights), production, financing and acquisition/distribution agreements. Oversight and knowledge of production legal and guild issues required.
Broad knowledge of television program talent agreements and rights acquisitions, distribution, network license , acquisition and international co-production deals. Experience with international tax credit scenarios a plus.
Administer and thoroughly coordinate all business affairs and legal issues and contracts.. Assume accountability for deals under tight time lines. Hands on and a motivated self starter with superb writing skills.
Provide on-going business affairs and legal advice to internal clients concerning development, production, guild matters, acquisition/distribution of content and rights issues.
Requirements:
J.D. and a minimum 10 years of legal experience in the entertainment industry.
Minimum 5 years or more of experience negotiating transactions in the entertainment industry including broad and in depth knowledge of television development, production and acquisition/distribution transactions.
Must have some experience working in-house business & legal affairs department in the entertainment or media industry.
A broad understanding of content, production, acquisition, financing, distribution and licensing. Experience in all aspects of digital rights and analysis of multi-platform rights issues.
Excellent drafting, time management and organizational skills and be poised and polished in communicating with executives.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment with a very high volume work load.
Team player with a can do attitude.
