RED APPLE MEDIA, part of the Red Apple Group, is searching for a Human Resources Generalist. Red Apple Media owns and operates 77 Talk Radio WABC (New York City) and Talk Radio 107.1 WLIR-FM (Long Island) and is a growing media company. The HR Generalist will lead and direct the routine functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering benefits and leave, developing and enforcing company policies and practices, administering the college-level internship program and dealing with employee questions and concerns.
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partners with leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy as it relates to current and future needs, retention, and succession planning.
• Manage the staffing process, including job posting, recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling managers on candidate selection, onboarding and employee separation.
• Plans and conducts new employee orientation and training to foster positive attitude toward Company goals and culture.
• Updates job requirements and descriptions for all positions and ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.
• Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
• Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
• Handles employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, investigations in accordance with Company policy.
• Enforces management guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures and maintains the company's handbook on policies and procedures.
• Develops and maintains a human resources system that meets top management information needs including all department records, contracts and reports.
• Maintains Company compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
• Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes and employment law.
• Maintains affirmative action and Federal Communications Commission EEO programs to support diversity and meet regulatory requirements.
• Implements employee benefits programs and educates employees about available benefits; recommends benefit programs to management; obtains and evaluates benefit contract bids; and keeps records of benefits plans participation.
• Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, safety, diversity recruitment, and sexual harassment.
Qualifications / Skills:
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite / Google Suite and related software.
• Proficient with or the ability to quickly learn the Company's HRIS and talent management systems.
Education / Experience:
• Bachelor's degree with a concentration in HR Management desired
• 1 to 3 years of experience in progressively responsible human resource roles
