The Strategy and Business Development team works directly with the company's Co-CEOs, divisional leadership and executives across the entire organization. Valence is a learning culture and this role offers the opportunity to build a broad toolkit of capabilities and understanding of the industry deep operational expertise while pondering some of the biggest strategic shifts facing the industry.
Description of Responsibilities
Valence is seeking an associate for its Strategy and Business Development department. This resource will be involved in many of the team's longer-term strategic initiatives, including researching and analyzing industry trends, supporting strategic partnerships, integrations and collaborations across the Valence platform, and presenting quantitative and qualitative data to support the company's operations.
This position will report to the VP of Strategy and Business Development and work closely with the team to assess strategy for the company, business development initiatives, new product launches, integrations and transformations (including operational excellence initiatives). This resource will need the ability to research and synthesize complex problems, strong project management and prioritization skills and the flexibility to manage across a diverse set of stakeholders.
The pace of change and implementation of new strategic initiatives will require a dynamic person that can balance the discipline to be both process-driven and comfortable working outside the bounds of a highly structured role. This role will create meaningful opportunity for professional development and exposure to all facets of the business as the company is highly cross-functional.
While this position will have many touch points with the Film and TV teams, it will not be supporting day-to-day film and television underwriting and financial modeling.
The ideal candidate will:
• Have a bachelor's degree with strong GPA; MBA preferred
• Possess 4-6 years of prior work experience, preferably in entertainment, private equity, investment banking, management consulting, or within a growth company
• Be advanced in Excel and PowerPoint
• Have strong organizational and project management capabilities
• Have excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Have a natural curiosity to ask questions, challenge assumptions and dig deeper through research
• Be able to synthesize and clearly communicate large amounts of information
• Be a self-starter and able to work independently and excel in a highly entrepreneurial environment
• Possess an interest and/or passion for the media and entertainment ecosystem
• Have the ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
