Streaming Media Specialist
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering a continuous, ''buffering free'' experience over various browsers, networks and devices.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Monitor and assess video player engagement with end user and establish quality of experience (QoE) metrics such as re-buffering, startup times, bitrates and playback failures along with other problems as identified.
• Interface with in-house and external multimedia developers to fix and continuously improve PLI's media platform for state-of-the-art content delivery.
• Lead problem triage with customers and their IT departments to diagnose a root cause analysis and enact fixes to solve streaming issues that interrupt an end-user experience.
• Work with Content Delivery Networks (CDN) and Content Management Systems (CMS) to establish connection for webcasts, enacting format changes, creating reports, etc.
• Keep pace with industry trends in formats, media delivery, media players, adaptive bitrate, etc. Make recommendations when new technology becomes available.
• Supports post-production efforts by editing content, converting file formats of assets and producing derivative products.
• Other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
• BS in Video Production with relevant technical experience or BS in Computer Science highly preferred.
• 2+ years of encoding experience including H.264, VP9, MPEG-2 and H.265
• Experience working with XML, SQL and web services interfaces including SOAP, JSON and REST is required.
• Previous experience with live webcasting using various platforms and encoders preferred.
• Knowledge of JW Player strongly preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills a must.
• Innovative thinker and troubleshoots with a self-starter mentality.
