How do I hire a Director Of Security? As our Director of Security for the Rose Quarter, you will lead, manage, supervise, and coordinate the 24-hour security for the Moda Center, Veterans Memorial Coliseum and the Rose Quarter Commons. You will implement and execute policies and procedures to ensure efficient and safe operation of our facilities and campus. As our security leader, you will develop internal training programs related to current industry standards and will be the venue security liaison with the NBA.
You will be responsible for:
• Being a positive influence to the Facility Security team and leading with a high level of integrity.
• Staying current on and, where practical, deploy state-of-the-art technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard assets and property.
• Coordinating the schedule and figuring out staffing of external event personnel including off duty police officers, EMT's, and peer group security as needed.
• Working most events and being an authority in all areas of staffing for Trail Blazers games, hockey games, concerts, and other events.
• Developing and handling the capital and expense budget for the department.
• Building, implementing, and evaluating departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
• Leading and updating the Emergency Management program, ensuring all employees are familiar with policy and procedures. Scheduling regular emergency evacuation drills, Table Top and Field Training exercises.
• Continuing to develop and own the department's training program by coordinating training needs with the Agent Supervisors and ensuring that training is regularly provided to all personnel.
• Executing NBA Arena Security Procedures & Guidelines with the goal of consistently running one of the best security departments in the league.
• Actively identifying security vulnerabilities and developing strategies to mitigate or eliminate any identified threats.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with local, state and Federal law enforcement and life safety agencies.
• Supporting the collection, reporting, and documentation of injuries and accidents by the assigned Security Agent; ensuring the documentation is complete and then forwarding to appropriate parties.
• Establishing and overseeing work objectives, assignments, and projects for Security Operations staff.
• Assisting with the administration of all physical security systems including access control, video surveillance cameras, alarms, and fire panels. Ensuring proper responses in a timely manner to all activations and are documented.
• Engaging in the hiring process for both full and part-time security agents and conducting annual performance reviews.
• Being strongly committed to developing a diverse and inclusive environment.
• Completing special projects and performing other tasks as assigned.
You are qualified if:
• You have 5 years of experience in corporate security, law enforcement, sports and entertainment security, or a related field.
• You have 3 years of progressive supervisory/management responsibility in a related field.
• You have experience working in special event security and public assembly venues is highly preferred.
• You can regularly work on evenings and weekends within a flexible schedule.
• You have a proven track record of building high performance teams.
• You are an active member in security related organizations that discuss and monitor current security industry standards and methodologies - preferred.
• You can accurately produce reports and other documentation suitable for dissemination to senior management.
• You can work collaboratively in a dynamic, high profile environment and deliver extraordinary moments to our guests and our employees.
• You are professional during all interactions, especially in situations with conflicting perspectives/opinions or high stress incidents.
• You are able to handle sensitive and confidential information without compromising the integrity of the material or the situation.
• You have highly developed social skills with a thoughtful and diplomatic communication style.
• You have demonstrated experience assisting with the development and/or direction of emergency preparedness related table top and drills.
• You are proficient in the operation and use of various software applications, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, video management systems, and sports and entertainment databases.
