Corporate Communications Coordinator (Part-Time)

Our part-time Corporate Communications Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Corporate Communications team in the execution of communications and media relations strategies, tactics and initiatives for the Portland Trail Blazers and Rose Quarter, including events at Moda Center and Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Interested candidates must be able to work as assigned for approximately 30 hours per week, including evenings and weekends.
You will be responsible for:
• Regularly crafting media monitoring reports for Trail Blazers community, season ticket holders and corporate partnership events, as well as concerts and shows at the Rose Quarter.
• Assisting with roll-out of new internal communications platform and helping with overall community management.
• Contributing to Corporate Communications spaces on our internal collaboration platform; acting as a community manager, and supporting interaction within and across other departments.
• Assisting with the creation and distribution of internal messaging and updates.
• Overseeing creation of the Trail Blazers Yearbook and assisting with Corporate Communications functions in the preparation of team media guides including the organization of new staff head shots.
• Assuming publicity role for Blazer5 Gaming franchise to include production of the team media guide, photo gallery, player bios, sponsor announcements, media releases, and generation of earned media coverage throughout the NBA 2K League season.
• Providing support to communications staff in building and servicing media relationships with local/national/social media affiliates/journalists with concentration on business, sports, entertainment, community outreach/development, lifestyle, sustainability, technology, public affairs, employee communications and broadcast.
• Coordinating monthly Rose Quarter segments with local media representatives in addition to staying abreast of key influencers and bloggers to identify potential partnerships.
• Providing key assistance as assigned with Celebrity Services engagement of special guests, VIPs and other celebrities occasionally attending Trail Blazers home games, including ticket management and venue escort/guidance.
• Writing press releases, pitching stories, and creating and distributing media kits for monthly events releases, show announcements, traffic/media advisories, and earned media opportunities.
• Assisting in event coordination, call-downs and on-site event coverage by guiding authorized media through duration of show and content capture in addition to coordinating credentials for photographers/media and delivering artist gifts.
• Joining with the Vice President of Corporate Communications and Corporate Communications Specialist (or Manager) in managing pre or postgame meet-and-greet requests submitted by Trail Blazers Group Sales Department that include players and/or coaches from visiting teams.
• Supporting communications plans by dedicatedly promoting the Trail Blazers business and team, as well as Rose Quarter events and initiatives.
• Scheduling department meetings; maintaining department calendars, files and media distribution lists, and acting as point of contact for media and other inquiries during business hours.
• Performing other tasks as assigned.
You are qualified if:
• You have earned a Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university in Communications, Journalism, or related field; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• You have prior Public Relations agency experience, preferred.
• You consider your strong attention to detail, accuracy and organization one of your best strengths.
• You are knowledgeable of basic computing equipment and software typical in a modern office environment. Knowledge in practical application of Windows OS, MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint preferred.
• You have experience in media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral, and visual media.
• You have demonstrated skills in composing, editing and proofreading the written language as a means for effectively communicating to a variety of audiences; often requiring creativity or objectivity and impartial reporting.
• You are able to maintain confidentiality, work with sensitive or proprietary information and exercise discretion.
• You have experience disseminating information about decisions, plans, and activities to people who need the information to do their work; sharing appropriate information openly.
• You can navigate systems and intranet sites for staff collaboration.
• You manage multiple priorities at a time without skipping a beat.
• You can work evenings, weekends and flexible hours as needed based on the demands of the business and event schedule.
