PMC: Senior Project Manager - Consultant
Penske Media Corporation (PMC) is seeking a Senior Project Manager for a 3-4 month consulting project to help us deliver the digital products related to our inaugural culture festival, LA3C, a celebration of Los Angeles powered by PMC's iconic brands including Rolling Stone, Variety, Billboard, The Hollywood Reporter, Vibe, Robb Report, WWD, among many others. The three-day event will feature food, art, concerts, panels, shopping and sports events. This role is initially expected to last 4 – 6 months.
The Senior Project Management Consultant will be expected to work across multiple streams at once, facilitating and executing on the delivery of Digital products related to the event including a website, event ticketing platforms and potentially iOS and Android apps. We're seeking a highly motivated self-starter who is organized, follows process well and is comfortable hitting the ground running. You are analytical, detail- and results-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong work ethic. You have experience selecting and managing multiple agencies and vendors at once to tight project timelines.
This role will encompass all aspects of Project Delivery, including helping spec and confirm requirements, helping with vendor selection and associated paperwork and managing vendor delivery and progress through to the event in December and beyond.
There is potential for this role to turn into a permanent role at a later date.
Responsibilities
• Work with LA3C stakeholders to spec and write initial scope documents for delivery of digital products associated with the event such as a website, event ticketing platforms and an app.
• Coordinate agency / vendor responses and proposals, working with key stakeholders to complete assessment and select the winning bids.
• Work with agencies / vendors to identify delivery schedules, progress reports and other project management tools to ensure successful delivery to committed dates.
• Work with agencies / vendors to ensure requirements are defined and approved by all key stakeholders.
• Manage internal communications around product delivery including:
• Status updates
• Milestone updates
• QA / Review / Approval milestones
• Key decisions required and made
• Risks and Issues – including presenting mitigation actions and contingency plans.
• Manage project budgets and track vendor spend to date.
• Collaborate with teams based around the world including Los Angeles, New York, UK and India.
• Work with Agile project management processes and other project management tools and processes as relevant.
Skills
• Minimum 7 years' experience managing development / technical projects in the media, entertainment, event or publishing industries.
• Highly organized, with ability to track multiple deadlines across multiple work streams simultaneously.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with multiple teams / stakeholders in multiple locations across multiple projects simultaneously, including communicating with VP, C-level executives.
• Experience managing agencies / vendors and keeping them to a tight delivery timeline.
• Experience writing and communicating product requirements to external agencies and vendors.
• Excellent understanding of agile software development cycles with minimum 5 years' experience running Agile Scrum teams.
• Experience with other Project Management methodologies.
• Bachelor's degree preferably in a science or technical subject.
• Experience working with remote working teams.
• Experience with project management systems and software including; planning software such as JIRA / MS Project / Smartsheet; and diagramming and presentation software such as Visio / PowerPoint.
• Preferred: Experience managing digital products for major events.
