Art in America: Researcher (Temporary)
Art in America , one of the world’s leading authorities in art criticism, seeks a Temporary Researcher for the magazine’s annual Art in America Guide, a resource for the art world that includes listings as well as editorial content. Reporting to the Managing Editor, the Researcher will ideally work 4-5 days/week, 3-5 hours/day for a period of seven weeks, but there is some flexibility. The Researcher will be expected to manage responses from museums about upcoming exhibitions, to follow up with these institutions, and to organize exhibition schedules chronologically and regionally; there will also be some general editorial duties. Knowledge of art history and the art world is a plus, but is not necessary. The ideal applicant is someone who has keen organizational skills and is able to work with a high degree of accuracy.
Qualifications
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in editorial/research, ideally in culture.
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Able to manage multiple outlook email inboxes and track responses in an excel spreadsheet
• Good communication skills (able to keep track of who has responded to outreach, follow up promptly, etc)
• Comfortable following up by phone when necessary
• General familiarity with museums/the art world a plus
