Programming Manager, Comedy - Pluto TV
Overview
The Programming Manager, Comedy is in charge of the content evaluation, channel mix, programming quality, and overall success of the Comedy category! They will develop and implement strategies that deliver on the department KPI's. The Programming Manager is on the front line of revolutionizing the future of TV and is important to achieving the Pluto TV mission of entertaining the planet!
Responsibilities
This is an important role with a wide range of responsibilities, including:
• Provide expertise within the world of comedy and lead all aspects of content programming using the tools and resources available to the editorial team
• Develop successful programming schedules based on data around audience behavior and content
• Use viewership data to continually optimize the performance of the category and the channels within that category
• Engage with the larger Pluto TV organization, collaborating with the Promotion and Marketing teams, Content Ops, Live Ops, and Content Acquisition/Partner Relations teams to ensure smooth cross-department operations
• Review and tirelessly research content and content catalogs and make selections that will positively impact the channels performance and department KPI's
• Give the best methods and programming concepts to the team
• Lead editors and contractors as needed to achieve programming and operational goals
• Learn new software and practices to increase efficiency and quality
• Submit bugs and product feedback for the Pluto CMS
• Other tasks and duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications
We believe the right individual will have the following skills and experience in order to be successful in this role:
• 4 years of direct experience in Comedy programming within a digital or traditional media environment
• Hands-on industry experience and knowledge in the comedy world and comedy communities (Stand-Up, Sketch, Improv, Sitcom/Late Night Writers' Rooms, etc.)
• Experience using analytic tools such as Tableau
Additional Qualifications
• Team management experience strongly preferred
• Ability to work cross-functionally to resolve complex issues
• Having an experimental mentality with the goal of using data to support the success of content, channels, programming, and scheduling
• Deep knowledge and passion for all matter of comedy; past, present and future
• Ability to perform in-depth research and apply data effectively and strategically
• Excellent attention to detail
• Excellent project management skills, including the ability to handle numerous projects with varying deadlines
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of best practices in metadata creation and copywriting
