Seeking motivated, passionate and highly qualified technical candidates to join the Pixar lighting team! In this role, you will have an excellent opportunity to develop cutting edge technologies, pipelines and workflows that our lighters will use to create dazzling visuals. You will also be responsible for providing outstanding technical support to our lighters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the Lighting DP and Lighting Leads to identify needs for new tools and processes, and to determine how they get implemented
• Oversees and organizes frontline support for the lighting team
• Identify issues with existing tools and processes, and work with the lighters to find workable solutions
• Develop and maintain lighting scripts
• Work closely with software engineers to communicate the needs of the Lighting department
• Work with Rendering and Lightspeed artists on optimization efforts, and rendering guidelines
• Help with show specific documentation
• Lighting Team advocate and technical expert in discussions with other departments
• Interface with production, systems, and tools to address technical issues and expand creative reach in these overlapping areas
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong understanding of computer graphics, Renderman and the lighting pipeline
• Experience with Global Illumination and physically accurate lighting
• Ability to collaborate well under both schedule and budget pressures
• Possess excellent communication and organizational and team skills
• Unix or Linux operating system
• Must be able to work alone and collaboratively with multiple tasks
• Must be open to direction and able to embrace change
• Education in computer science, mathematics, engineering, Media Production, or a related field
• Skills in the following areas are generally required: Unix or Linux OS, Scripting or Programming in C, C++, Python, or a similar language; CGI tools such as Maya, RenderMan, Katana, Nuke, or Houdini
