Pixar is looking for a proficient Compositing Technical Director for feature film, streaming and ancillary projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partner with lighting and FX technical directors to establish and fine tune the look of assigned shots
• Maintains the overall look, color balance, and quality for assigned shots and sequences to create uniformity in all finished work
• Work alongside department leadership on creative and technical solutions for larger projects
• Develop and maintain compositing scripts used by other technical directors
• Work with upstream departments and provide feedback on assets needed for final shot polish
• Participate in discussions regarding cross-departmental technical needs
• Create and support gizmos and scripts used by other technical directors
• Work with FX, lighting and rendering to optimize shot work
• May need to render the necessary passes required for to complete the final look
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Expert knowledge of Nuke in a production environment
• Strong understanding of VFX compositing techniques (fx integration, 3D projection, lens effect, deep compositing)
• Professional vfx experience in feature film preferred ( or 5-10 years experience in vfx feature films)
• Ability to work collaboratively with artists from other disciplines
• Experience debugging and supporting other artists' nuke scripts
• Experience teaching and supporting large groups of artist is a plus
• Experience developing gizmos for nuke (scripting experience in tcl, python is a plus)
• Creative problem solving skills
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong understanding of lighting and a desire to learn more about lighting in a 100% CG environment
• Unix or Linux operating system
• Working knowledge of Katana (preferred) or another 3D lighting software
• Strong eye for color, composition and lighting design with a close attention to detail
