Full Time Unpaid Internship
Pixar is offering an exciting opportunity geared towards students interested in pursuing a career on animated feature films as Sets Model | Rigging Technical Director. In this role, you will work closely with our Technical Directors (TDs) to realize the environmental vision of the Production Designer and Director by constructing and shaping the character's 3D geometry, and the delivery of a well-designed set of animation controls for manipulating that geometry.
In this role, you will:
• Construct organic looking models and environments, using both manual and procedural techniques
• Work with technical leads, reviewing and revising work as necessary to gain Production Designer and Director approval
• Implement modeling and shading variations to provide objects the look that is required for the particular character being built
• Create clean and efficient assets and support downstream departments
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Working towards a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Digital Art or a related field
• Programming experience in C/C and/or a scripting language such as Python
• A strong sense of aesthetic demonstrating an understanding of physical motion, weight, - balance, lighting, texture, and form
• Ability to follow art direction but also demonstrate initiative
• Ability to visualize a three-dimensional character derived from two-dimensional drawings
• Experience using 3D software packages such as Maya, Houdini, Katana, RenderMan, etc.
• Experience in Unix/Linux systems
ELIGIBILITY:
• Working towards a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Digital Art or a related field; recent grads who are within one year of graduation are also eligible to apply
• Must be able to demonstrate a sense of aesthetic via an online demo reel
• Must be available to work full-time Mon -Fri for 12-weeks between June 2019 – August 2019
