Job Summary:
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Partners closely with the Producing team and Editorial, providing guidance as needed throughout the finishing stages of production through post production
• Manages the post schedule, making sure all scheduling and budgetary concerns are addressed and communicated to all relevant parties
• Looks ahead to ensure that deadlines are met
• Keeps all stakeholders apprised on any key changes in production or post that will affect final delivery
• Partners with the Producer, Associate Producer, Production Manager, Supervising Editor, Edit Manager and 1st Assistant Editor in managing external screening deadlines and delivery of materials for sound and music departments
• Partners closely with Editorial and provides guidance as needed throughout the finishing stages of production through post production
• Communicates and tracks all preliminary reel turnovers to Disney and attempts to align as much as possible with other creative milestones and reel turnovers to music and sound departments
• Partners with Mastering Supervisors on confirmation of deliverables and the delivery of elements needed for theatrical and non-theatrical distribution
• Partners with Producers and Production Managers to schedule directors' attendance at post related reviews
• Leads Producer checks, and creative review and approval sessions and provides leadership as needed. Sets agendas, goals, monitor pace and shift priorities as needed
• Partners with CFS Director to assure smooth flow of elements as needed for localization, including milestone screenings, casting videos and music and effects mixes for international distribution
• Provides leadership at the final mix, ensuring that scheduled playbacks and tech specs are met and consults with the VP, Post Production and Producer to approve OT on an as needed basis
• Partners with production to schedule loop group and Production Dialogue [PDX] sessions and helps select dialogue recording studios as needed
• Partners with Sound Designer/Supervisor to ensure Sound editorial staging, budget and creative milestones for film-maker playbacks are met
• Partners with Music Department to ensure music delivery schedules run in parallel with production needs and sound mixing deadlines
• Manages music tracking as needed by production. Insuring notes are taken by edit or post coordinator and kept organized
• Partners with Picture Editorial on tracking all music licensing and confirming final timings with the Disney Music Department
Other responsibilities:
• Schedules all temp dubs for previews and final dub (i.e., book mix stage, schedule directors' time, run playback reviews)
• Schedules all sound effects, dialogue and music spotting and review sessions and logistics leading up to
• Supervises, set ups and QCs for previews and other pre-release screenings, including film festivals and wrap party, ensuring filmmaker involvement as needed
• Responsible for tracking special considerations for Dialogue and Vocal performances for DCVI in partnership with the Script Supervisor, Dialogue Supervisor and Music Executive on the film
• Ensures all necessary Dialogue [DX] and Vocal splits and optionals are delivered to DCVI
• Ensures editorial adheres to the latest delivery and security specs for all outgoing material (ie: picture reference for sound & music editorial) in partnership with the Mastering Department
• Ensures all Final Sound Deliverables, (theatrical and non-theatrical) are created and delivered accurately and on time with all stakeholders
Budget and finance supervision:
• Actively manages post budget and resources, communicating consistently with the VP, Post Production and project producers
• Negotiates vendor pricing
• On a daily/weekly basis, monitors spending, strategizes allocation of budget resources, and costs out impact of any changes and/or delays with the Production Accountant
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Minimum 4+ years practical operations, scheduling and budgeting experience for film, video and audio in a feature or tv post production environment
• At least 5 years experience or equivalent in Post-Production in a managerial role on a Feature Film or Episodic Series
• General knowledge of standard, professional editing systems for Picture and Sound Editorial and Mastering processes
• General knowledge of common media container formats and codecs for Picture and Sound
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Suite of apps
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, change course of action quickly and maintain professionalism under pressure
• Ability to work well independently and within a team
• Excellent attention to details and accuracy, strong time management and organization skills
• Proactive and resourceful
• Valid California driver's license required, access to a car preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Frequent to continuous use of computer and office equipment including monitor, keyboard, mouse, phones, etc.
• Willing to work flexible hours (including nights and weekends) and/or overtime on short notice
• Travel required, primarily to Los Angeles
• Frequent exposure to projection technologies
