We are looking for a detail-oriented, organized, thorough, and approachable payroll manager to lead Pixar's payroll team. The payroll manager will be responsible for ensuring the swift and accurate completion of a weekly payroll processing cycle while supervising three payroll analysts and providing excellent customer service to all our employees. Our ideal candidate is analytical, resourceful and methodical, with experience in payroll administration and deep knowledge of payroll regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure weekly payroll expenses and taxes are paid correctly and on time
• Verify the accuracy of weekly employee data changes for new hires, rehires, terminations, status changes, rate changes, leave of absences, and other payroll inputs from our Human Resources Business partners and external vendors
• Manage processing, configuration, and reconciliation of all payroll data imports and exports to internal or external payroll or financial systems; including but not limited to Workday, ADP, Oracle Finance, Schwab, Wageworks, Entertainment Partners, Larkin, and Workbrain
• Stay informed and manage the filing of all payroll legal requirements for taxes, audits, and other reporting
• Conduct research and analysis to assist with special requests and projects
• Interpret payroll policies and procedures to employees
• Process equity, imputed income, and similar transactions
• Supervise the maintenance, processing, and reporting of employees' weekly hours and project assignments in Pixar's time and attendance system
• Supervise the generation of weekly, monthly and quarterly reports and files to be used internally and externally
• Produce and maintain thorough payroll procedures that are compliant, efficient and current
• Select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the payroll function
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a BA or BS degree, or equivalent years of payroll work experience
• APA Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Solid knowledge of federal and state pay rules and regulations and payroll fundamentals including payroll tax, reporting, balancing, US pay policies, garnishments and payroll best practices
• Experience with Workday Payroll & ADP
• Knowledge of Oracle financial system preferred
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
• Accounting experience and knowledge of accrual methodology
• Previous multi-state payroll processing experience with working knowledge of multi-state taxation a plus
• Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment
• Work reliably and efficiently under demanding deadlines
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all matters
• Detail oriented, strong analytical skills and have the ability to detect inconsistencies in data
• Willingness to take initiative and resolve problems
• Forward thinking with the ability to propose improvements on inefficiencies
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high attention to detail and quality control
• Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be customer service oriented
