This position executes essential functions of the Legal and Business Affairs department by working on the film clearance pipeline, drafting and reviewing contracts in the support of the studio's business and filmmaking operations, and providing guidance and direction to productions and studio departments on a variety of legal issues.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide guidance and counsel to studio teams on all legal matters including rights of publicity and privacy, trademark, and copyright
• Support the feature, bonus material, and streaming film clearance process, including working with the Production Asset Manager to provide review and guidance on Art and Script elements; serve as clearance liaison to Disney
• Under mentorship from more senior law professionals, draft and negotiate production-related agreements, including writers, voice talent, minors' documentation, licenses, research and creative consultants and other independent contractors
• Under mentorship from more senior law professionals, draft, review, analyze, and comment upon ordinary course of business agreements provided by third parties, production related or otherwise (e.g., Systems, Café, supplier or vendor agreements)
• Provide legal support for Diversity, Outreach, and Inclusion initiatives and Pixar University exhibitions, curriculum and presentations
QUALIFICATIONS
• Law degree from an accredited law school and admission to the State Bar of California
• Familiarity with intellectual property law, including copyright, trademark, and rights of privacy and publicity a plus
• 3-5 years of law firm experience
• Strong drafting, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical capabilities and judgment; ability to spot, and work with, novel issues
• Ability to think practically and be solution-oriented
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; strong attention to detail
