Job Title
Phoenix Mercury Summer Intern
Job Purpose
The Phoenix Mercury is looking for Marketing or Public Relations major for a summer internship to assist the Marketing, Public Relations and Community Relations departments.
Primary (Essential) Duties
Marketing:
• Track single game ticket sales
• Distribute Give the Give /Sell-a-Thon Tickets to non-profits
• Distribute pocket schedules, flyers, posters to downtown business
• Build relationships with Downtown Phoenix Partnerships/Ambassadors
• Manage online newsletter copy/content
• Attend/Work all Mercury events
Public Relations:
• Write releases
• Attend media interviews (depending on the outlet)
• Maintain off-court media clips
Community Relations:
• Manage Donation Requests
• Spearhead High School Basketball community outreach program
• Organize season-long events and schedule
• Liaison between chosen school and the Mercury
• Handle ticket distribution and pre-game events
• Maintain appearance tracking sheet (players and coaches)
• Track all autograph items – jerseys, photos, posters, basketballs
Game Day:
• Assist with pre-game and post-game ticket promotions/events
Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities
• Passion for women's basketball
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Experience/Education Requirements
• Marketing or Public Relations major preferred
Working Conditions and Physical Demands
• Flexible hours to include weekends, evenings, some holidays and some overtime to meet business needs
• Must be able to attend all Mercury games and events
• Approximately 30 hours per week
• Must be able to lift and move up to 25 pounds
• Extended periods of time of standing and walking
• Must have housing in the Phoenix metro area for the duration of the internship (Housing will not be provided by Phoenix Mercury)
