Peoria Sports Complex is the Spring Training home to the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners. The ideal candidate is interested in a career in professional sports with an emphasis in marketing and stadium operations. This position is responsible for game day preparation, sponsor fulfillment, developing new marketing concepts, and stadium & event management functions. This is a ''hands on'' opportunity with a variety of responsibilities.
This position is a part-time, unpaid internship, which requires the intern to commit between 15-30 hours per week with a flexible schedule. In addition, it is preferred that candidates receive college credit for their participation. No housing or transportation provided.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Support staff in monitoring the quality assurance of essential stadium functions including concessions, facility maintenance, and guest services to promote an event-ready and fan-friendly ballpark.
• Assist with game day operations functions including but not limited to entry gate setups and breakdowns, game day magazine deliveries, table and chair placements, pre and post stadium cleanliness checks and participation in operational meetings,
• Assist in the production room operations through creating and implementing sponsorship based graphic design media, promotional schedules and scripts.
• Assist with all grassroots efforts including Spring Training materials distribution, community appearances and overall expansion of marketing campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure.
• Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing and season ticket sales campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure.
• Assist and implement ticket sales-driven promotions on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, and YouTube as well as develop key marketing campaigns using viral marketing techniques.
• Create and oversee content for multiple marketing channels including email marketing, websites, social media and mobile messaging. Drive social media engagement through fan interaction experiences including register-to-wins, fan polls, etc.
• Assist in the development of sponsor fulfillment, in-game promotions and day of event activities.
• Carry out all assigned duties and responsibilities, including additional tasks as needed to help achieve the overall goal of a successful season and department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Spring Training Intern - Peoria Sports Complex, Peoria, AZ Preferred dates: February 2020 – March 2020. This is an unpaid internship, with the opportunity to earn college credit. No housing or transportation provided
• Graduation or current enrollment in a Bachelor's/Master's Degree from an accredited college/university in Marketing, Sports Management, Public Relations, Communications, or related field is preferred.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience and strong technical skills in graphic design programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (preferred).
• Must be proficient with social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, YouTube, blogs and mobile applications. FBML and Facebook programming (preferred).
• Excelling time management and organizational skills with ability to successfully prioritize and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
• Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to change while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule based on marketing initiatives and project timelines. Will include evenings and/or weekends based upon the event schedule.
• Excellent written and oral communications skills required.
• Assertive, outgoing, hard-working, resourceful, as well as an independent thinker.
• Team player who is a creative and proactive problem solver.
• Candidates must have a positive attitude and great customer service skills.
• During the Spring Training season (month of February/March) person will be expected to reasonably work 3-5 games a week including nights and weekends
