The Manager of Ops Readiness at NBC Universal (NBCU), will oversee the pre-planning and support of all NBCU's digital properties including live streams and VOD assets. At the core, this role will oversee the operational readiness in a Digital Network Operations Center (DNOC) that will facilitate the monitoring and control of the video deliveries. The Manager of Ops Readiness will partner with clients and internal teams to work on strategic initiatives aimed at increased reliability, productivity, and growth. This role will also be accountable for measuring and controlling quality across the on-air environment, by driving best practice training, technology, and workflows.
This role is a unique opportunity to help grow a state-of-the-art, cutting-edge, one-of-a-kind facility and team that will pioneer digital delivery and distribution for the industry.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
• Partner with Internal and External teams to gather all operational requirements for upcoming tentpole events or releases
• Craft detailed operational runbooks and checklists with meticulous detail to be handed off to operators
• Proactively schedule needed tests or dress rehearsals to ensure operational readiness for Tier-1 or new events
• Manage the testing calendar for team of 30 operators
• Own the relationship with product owners in engineering for CMS and tooling updates needed for operators
• Operate horizontally in department and maintain strong relationships with other managers who own vertical workstreams (VOD, Linear, Single Live Events, and Platform Performance)
• Needs to be comfortable expressing risks and recommendations to VP and SVP stake holders
• Understand and train team in operational processes including escalation, resolution, and reporting across the digital footprint
• Track all Maintenance windows and ensure they will not impact on-air production
Qualifications
/Requirements
• Minimum of 5-7 yrs experience in Digital Operations
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Product Support or Dev Ops
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Network Operations Center or digital distribution facility
• Minimum of 5 yrs experience in a role with a track record of effective staff management along with high energy level, and strong team skills
• Minimum of 3 yrs experience leading a support team to effective issue resolution
• Willingness and ability to work or be on call at any time, sometimes on short notice in order to support a 24/7/365 operation

Desired Characteristics
• BA/BS in related field
• Extensive experience, understanding and knowledge of digital product and distribution systems, standards and processes
• Strategic project management leadership
• Technical experience with digital video and audio, troubleshooting and test techniques
• Prior experience with video encoding, delivery distribution workflows
• Experience with scheduling and resource management
• Strong attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills
• Effectively flexible in approach, and responds well to pressure
• A track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations
