POSITION TITLE: Director, Content Partnerships
DEPARTMENT: Content & Rights Management
STATUS: Full time, Exempt
SUPERVISOR: SVP, Content & Rights Management
PBS Distribution (PBSd) is a leading distributor of public media content around the world, reaching audiences through multiple platforms and formats while generating revenue for the public media system, stations, and producers. Extending our reach beyond broadcast, we operate six streaming channels on Amazon Prime Video Channels.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Content Partnerships will develop strong connections with our content producers and foster relationships which support these relationships. This position will work alongside senior management to proactively ensure producers understand the distribution landscape and the performance of their content across our lines of business.
The Director, Content Partnerships will be well-versed in PBSd activities, content pipelines, and industry trends. The position will analyze sales and performance data; and compellingly communicate relevant information on performance and PBSd priorities to our content partners.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILTIES:
• Develop and execute an annual calendar of business planning meetings and communications to key content producers
• Partner across functions to collect and analyze performance data for all PBSd lines of business to communicate overall reach and impact of our work
• Build a detailed understanding of PBSd products and services
• Craft presentation materials, agendas and talking points for a variety of content partner audiences, with a focus on executive and business management, which communicate our unique value proposition
• Understand the producer experience and their business needs to be able to assist with questions about PBSd activities and content performance
• Include leadership and staff in planning meetings to support key partnerships and messaging, as needed
• Communicate producer recommendations to the PBSd team to optimize success
• Serve as an ambassador for the work of the larger PBSd team
• This position requires 20% domestic travel
WORK EXPERIENCE:
• 10+ years of experience in relationship management or customer success position strongly preferred
• Experience working in the media or home entertainment marketplace
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Finance, or equivalent experience
• MBA preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
• Strong data and Excel skills, including the ability to use pivot tables and look-ups
• Mastery of creating high-quality presentation materials using PowerPoint or similar tools
OTHER SKILLS:
• Knowledge of the media distribution landscape and content production trends
• Experience reviewing, analyzing, and presenting sales and performance data
• Exceptional communication, writing and presentation skills
• Ability to collect information across departments and develop cohesive presentations
• Exceptional organization skills and meticulous attention to detail
• A commitment to excellent customer service
LOCATION
PBS Distribution is headquartered in Arlington, VA with an additional office In Boston, MA. The preferred location for the Director, Content Partnerships is in Arlington, VA or Boston, MA. Remote candidates will be considered with visibility in the Arlington or Boston office.
