The Director, International Market Research is a driving force in using insights to inform the strategy for Paramount Motion Picture releases, with an emphasis on non-US territories. As part of the worldwide market research team, this position is responsible for chipping in to the design, execution, and implementation of international marketing research plans. We are looking for this Director to work collaboratively with marketing, distribution, and production to transform research insights into practical strategies, with a keen eye for identifying important market & regional nuances to improve each motion picture’s potential around the world! This exciting position has exposure to the entire Paramount Pictures slate of films, including original titles as well as iconic and new franchises, such as Mission Impossible, Transformers, Sonic the Hedgehog and A Quiet Place, along with original titles going to Paramount Pictures Theatrically and Paramount !
Responsibilities
to include, but not limited to:
Evaluating each motion picture’s potential opportunities and challenges in up to 10 key international territories in which it will be released.
• Help craft qualitative and quantitative research studies to be conducted in international markets to evaluate and refine our hypotheses.
• Lead the execution of the studies in-market, advising research vendors on methodology, study design, cultural dynamics and sensitivities which may affect responses.
• Translate the research findings into concrete direction.
• Build visual documents which communicate research findings and data that are easy for non-technical Creatives to comprehend.
• Advise the Creative Marketing Executives, senior executives, and local in-market teams on research findings and strategic direction for each campaign.
• Assist in the writing of worldwide strategic marketing documents for each film.
• Present research insights at relevant weekly marketing strategy and management meetings as required.
• Analyze weekly marketing tracking studies for 10 key markets, assessing the competitive landscape and overall strength of the campaign in-market.
• Conduct post-release research and franchise-level research to inform the development of sequels.
• Support the domestic research team in the analysis of research test screenings.
• Closely liaise with the Analytics team to share and collate data to build a comprehensive, “big picture†perspective of each film’s assets and challenges.
• Actively monitor research trends and standard methodologies to help bring innovative new approaches to the studio.
Basic qualifications:
• Top-tier Market Research professional, with a proven experience in the entertainment industry (studio, streaming, TV network, or research agency).
• Minimum of 6 years experience in marketing research
• Excellent problem-solving and strong analytical & numerical skills
• Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to communicate a clear and concise research story to partners at all levels
• Strong professional writing ability
• Inquisitive and curious nature
• Capable project manager, able to lead all aspects of multiple projects from inception to completion, in a fast paced environment
• Highly organized with the ability to work under pressure and handle multiple projects

Other Qualifications looked on favorably:
• Masters Degree in social sciences, business, statistics, marketing, communications, or related area
• Experience on the ground in international territories (e.g., work/educational history)
• Experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau)
• Experience conducting focus groups
• Knowledge or passion for movies
