Network Engineer (CONTRACT)

Can you help take our products to the next level? As a contract Network Engineer, you will deliver the network that supports live television production, post-production, enterprise systems, and digital media delivery. You will have a large impact on Pac-12 networks, building and maintaining complex networking systems. Pac-12 Networks is renowned for pioneering IP-based remote production over a high capacity network connecting almost 100 venues across all Pac-12 schools to our production studios in downtown San Francisco. In this role, you’ll manage and support one of the most unique broadcast networks in the world.

Responsibilities
• Serve as primary Network Engineer, providing hands-on support of all levels of networking within corporate, broadcast, and cloud environments
• Design and plan mission critical systems that power Pac-12 Networks
• Lead maintenance of networking systems and technology, provide knowledge transfer to maintenance staff and ensure documentation is accurate and shared
• Participate in operational planning and support for the full network stack including working with Internet 2 and the ITS groups at each of our member universities
• Act as first-line point of escalation for the IT support team, broadcast engineering team production team, and key users
• Develop capabilities & procedures for monitoring, alerting, change management, shared support, and automation
• Build adaptive network security capabilities that protect valuable company data and drive accountability and transparency in daily operations
• Identify opportunities for business enablement through the use of networking
Requirements
• Five years of prior work experience in broadcast television, big data, and/or IP technology environment
• Appropriate certification (CCNA, CCENT, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP, or CCDA) as evidence of base-level skill set
• Demonstrable experience with:
• L3 routing protocols: OSPF & BGP
• Cisco Meraki wireless products
• Cisco CLI configuration on NXOS, IOS
• L2 Protocols: STP & VLANs
• Juniper CLI configuration on JUNOS
• Multicast
• Internet 2 and/or University Campus networks
• IP-based video transmission
• Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of data networks and servers applicable to television broadcasting, broadcast-related platforms and/or file-based workflows
• Experience in support of media distribution technologies including VOD, live streaming, and web technologies
• Experience with Cloud Networking on AWS using software-defined networking principles
• Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and shifting priorities
• Strong verbal and written communication skills both in person and utilizing a team communication tool such as Slack
• BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
