Campus & Events Infrastructure Engineer is a diverse position at Pac-12 Networks, helping to drive operational and technical excellence across the organization. The role is responsible for providing top-tier engineering support for field productions, managing campus, and event infrastructure, and relations related to engineering requirements, projects, and initiatives for the Pac-12 Networks.
The Campus & Events Infrastructure Engineer will manage and execute technology and operational projects supporting Pac-12 Championship events, Internet 2 & Legacy Network infrastructure, and engineering and production initiatives. They will establish and maintain strong relationships with the Conference, Internal Engineering teams, Remote Production team, University Engineering departments, Athletics departments, external entities, and partners. Working with the Director, Campus & Events Infrastructure, this role will also collaborate and support the Engineering team with the day-to-day operations associated with network engineering, systems engineering, broadcast engineering, remote operations, and IT.
Responsibilities
• Broadcast Support:
• Perform broadcast engineering support duties for all live Pac-12 Networks broadcasts as first-line support for Production in the field.
• Identify and document engineering requirements for campus and event productions including planning and execution of engineering tasks for the Pac-12 Networks and Conference sports and entertainment events.
• Project Leadership:
• Own engineering and infrastructure-related projects across our twelve-member Universities, which include support and management of data centers across our Pac-12 footprint as well as our I2 prime and legacy networks.
• Participate in the creation, sourcing, and implementation of new solutions that will support and grow our existing and future linear and digital production model.
• Infrastructure Maintenance:
• Oversee ongoing operational planning to include events and campus infrastructure projects, engineering requirements, deployment timelines, operational policies, and procedures.
• Collaborate with broadcast engineering, infrastructure engineering, technical operations, and remote operations group to support Pac-12’s core broadcast infrastructure and venue infrastructure.
• Stakeholder Relationship Management:
• Cultivate collaborative, productive relationships with our member universities engineering and infrastructure teams to execute and support strategic plans and programs in accordance with business objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in remote event technical operations, preferably sports event operations.
• Working knowledge of the operation and maintenance of data networks and servers applicable to television broadcasting, broadcast-related platforms and/or file-based workflows
• Experience in support of media distribution technologies.
• Excellent understanding and knowledge of current technical equipment and technology involved in the production of live sports events for a 24/7 sports network (TX facilities, remote production units, audio, video, GFX, etc.).
• Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills; good judgment and the ability to interact with different levels of management and teams.
• Ability to manage effectively numerous projects simultaneously while under tight deadlines.
• Must be able to work weekends during all times of the year.
• Must be able to travel (up to 50%)
