OxFilm is currently recruiting for an experienced, creative, visionary, and results focused Executive Director to lead all aspects of the organization and its flagship program, the annual Oxford Film Festival.
About OxFilm
OxFilm is an independent non-profit organization with 501c3 status committed to celebrating the art of independent cinema. Through year-round programming, the organization works to encourage filmmaking in Oxford and north Mississippi as part of the global film community, while cultivating audience appreciation of cinema through screenings, workshops and educational programs that culminate in the annual Film Festival.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Festival Coordination & Management: Oversee the planning and operation of the annual Oxford Film Festival, ensuring that the festival operates smoothly and efficiently.
• Programming: Oversee all aspects of programming of the festival, both curatorial and administrative.
• Virtual Programs: Oversee and manage virtual film festival and screening programs.
• Filmmaker Relations: Work with filmmakers and producers to secure appropriate film rights for screenings.
• Human Resources: Recruit and supervise OxFilm staff, interns, and volunteers.
• Hospitality & Travel: Oversee the coordination of guest filmmaker/actor travel and local transportation.
• Fundraising: Work with the Board in fundraising efforts that include sponsorships, memberships, donations, ad sales, and fundraising events.
• Grants: Seek and pursue grant funding and serve as the lead for applications, grant management and reporting.
• Sponsorship Coordination: Research, outreach to, and negotiate with sponsors; see to the fulfillment of sponsor agreements.
• Fiscal Responsibilities: Responsible for fiscal management of the organization, including development and management of an annual budget; and financial reporting.
• Special Events: Organize and secure the resources necessary for festival galas, special screenings, receptions, and other festival events and fundraising events.
• Publicity: Develop and guide public relations efforts to ensure media coverage of the festival.
• Marketing: Develop an overall marketing plan and oversee development of the creative campaign and materials ranging from print to web to social networking.
• Publications: Oversee the production of the festival program book and printed schedule, including writing copy and coordinating advertising.
• Outreach: Seek and develop cultural and community partners to co-produce screenings and events.
• Box Office/Accreditation: Oversee the management of ticketing and guest accreditation.
• Venue/House Management: Secure venues for screenings, parties, and other festival events, and oversee the management of venue operations.
• Technical Management: Secure equipment and technical personnel needed for projection and production of festival screenings and events.
• Reporting: Prepare reports and updates to keep the Board well-informed about activities related to OxFilm and its well-being.
• Other: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
• B.A. or advanced degree.
• Three (3) years of leadership experience in a non-profit film organization preferred.
• Three (3) years of film exhibitions and/or film festivals planning and c00rdination preferred.
• Fundraising experience, including managing fundraising events and generating donations and sponsorships and grant writing.
• Experience managing staff and volunteers with the ability to delegate responsibilities and foster positive relationships and teamwork.
• Excellent project coordination, time management, and organizational skills with the ability to oversee and prioritize multiple projects.
• Self-starter, proactive and driven, with a strong work ethic, a high level of motivation, a strong sense of urgency, the ability to work without direct supervision and meet deadlines.
• Ability to troubleshoot, to achieve conflict resolution, and to work calmly under pressure. A creative thinker who is resourceful in solving problems.
• Strong knowledge of the independent film industry.
• Knowledge of technical formats for film and digital video submissions and projection.
• Mac proficient with knowledge of Filemaker Pro, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and social media.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
