We are currently seeking a dynamic and creative Graphic Designer to join our music agency, focusing on creative direction in the worlds of music and media. The Graphic Designer manages the production of creative designs and art layouts by developing concepts and by taking direction from the executives. This position requires both artistic creativity and flexibility as well as coordination, vision, project management skills and organization. Each day is different and each client demands new ideas. The Graphic Designer must use their graphic design skills and industry knowledge to help develop creative standards, and work on multimedia content development for a variety different clients on a wide array of projects. The Graphic Designer will ideally fit in with the company vision and grow through the various positions eventually into one of the company's lead creative directors. The Graphic Designer will be involved in creating campaigns for our clients that has an instant, positive impact on the consumer in order to promote the artist and/ or brand client. The Graphic Designer should have the ability to suggest creative changes, keep notes extremely well and be able to put all these ideas into a working to do list. He/ she will work under the supervision of the Creative Director and usually work on a project from its earliest stages through to the launch. The Graphic Designer is likely to contribute to several projects at once as the work is fast paced and demanding.
The Graphic Designer tasks and duties may include:
- Generating ideas to present to the client
- Working on designs to produce an effective campaign
- Commissioning specialists, such as artists and photographers, to work on projects
- Editing the final results for presentation to the client based on direction from the Creative Director
- Review project production factors by studying budget, background information, objectives, presentation approaches, styles, and techniques
- Select and secure illustrative material by formulating basic layout design concept; conducting research
- Produce illustrative material by assigning layout design concept to artists and photographers; directing development of design concepts into art layouts
- Prepare layouts for printing by marking-up, pasting-up, and finishing layouts
- Obtain the Creative Director's approval by presenting final layouts, story boards, and illustrations; responding to client commentary and requests
- Improve quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Enhance company's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments
- Provide designs and support to the creative team, whilst also taking on some high-profile projects him or herself
- Nurture and encourage the development of skill sets wherever possible
- Meet department goals by delivering on time, delivering on budget, and reduce and limiting
- Manage production workflow and team resourcing within budget and timing constraints
- Ability to create original materials or others based on existing style guides to fit brand image
- Develop systems, processes and initiatives that ensure that all projects meet a consistently high standard
The Graphic Designer should:
- Be highly creative
- Have a thorough understanding of design, photography, typography and printing
- Ideally have experience with motion graphics/ animation
- Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Work well as part of a team, with a range of people
- Have an interest in social and cultural trends and fashions.
- Have excellent computer skills in relevant art and design software packages
- Be able to work under pressure
- Be highly motivated and well organized
- Have a good eye for detail
- Be able to see other people's point of view and cope with criticism
It's important to have an interest in:
- Social and cultural trends and fashions
- The entertainment business as a whole
- Technology developments
- Developments in the media
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (or more) in Fine Art required
- Dedication to graphic consistency, brand standards, and quality across all channels
- Extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop and Illustrator
- Coordination, Creativity, Vision, Project Management, Product Management, Organization, Graphic Design Skills, Developing Creative Standards, Illustration Tools, Desktop Publishing Skills, Multimedia Content Development
