The Business Development department focuses on seeking out new business partners on a local, regional, national and global scale. Our relationships with existing partners are of great importance and we'll look to you to strengthen those bonds and build sustainable profitability for the Thunder and ensure value for our partners.
As the department vice president, you will build, communicate and activate our business development strategies both internally and externally. You will provide leadership, management and strategic direction to secure corporate partnerships for the organization and lead an all-star team of sales and activation professionals. As a department leader you will champion an environment for personal accountability, integrity and creativity. Your combined strengths in contract negotiation, asset development, inventory management, activation and customer service will optimize relationships with the Thunder's corporate partners.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Guide short- and long-term department objectives, strategies and resource allocation
• Responsible for budget formulation & control, capital expenditures, and financial analysis and reporting
• Inspire the staff with training, shared best-practices and mentoring, fostering curiosity and personal achievement
• Develop and maintain relationships with local and national brand executives & advertising agencies to cultivate new business and drive team revenue goals
• Direct client acquisition and account management, develop sales packages and strategies and direct contract development and implementation
• Cultivate and develop new business categories and target key prospects for the sales team
• Evaluate sales strategies and develop innovative partnership opportunities to elevate the Thunder profile and drive revenue performance
• Craft conceptual sponsorship packages that fully utilize organizational resources to maximize partner business objectives and brand exposure
• Participate in creative planning, attend meetings and actively support the team and their partner accounts
• Provide analytical insights and guide the team with effective planning and execution of partner renewals
• Serve as a member of the Thunder Executive Team and Leadership Council ensuring optimization of organizational resources and supporting a synergetic and collaborative team environment
• Form and maintain connections within the community and represent the Thunder as an ambassador of our culture and values
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent military or work experience
• Minimum of seven years' experience with senior-level, successful and creative sponsorship and a minimum of five years' experience in senior management
• Knowledge of sponsorship programs, including content development and multi-channel distribution
• Demonstrated experience in building, negotiating and closing multi-million-dollar terms
• Proven successful sales experience and sustained relationships with national and regional brands and consistent track record of managing and renewing major accounts
• Ability to effectively lead a sales team, including developing strategies, managing performance, inspiring continuous learning and identifying measurable results
• Time management skills that allow you to handle multiple tasks, projects and accounts and delegate while displaying calm under pressure of deadlines
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and organizations, using your strong communication and listening skills
• Well-spoken and confident, displaying strong leadership, decision-making, and the ability to build relationships and skillfully manage negotiations
This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing.
