The Oklahoma City Thunder is seeking an outstanding team member to refine our social media reach and build long-term dedication. Bring your talent to our court to help us build on a strong social media foundation with creativity, passion, and strategy.
Since 2009, the Thunder has built a social media following of more than 17 million worldwide. We are consistently in the upper echelon in the NBA in followers and engagement and our fan base is both dedicated and passionate!
We are looking for an outgoing, collaborative professional to help the Thunder grow into our next phase of creativity, engagement, and connection. As part of the team, you will help bring media strategies to life throughout all areas of the business. You will attend Thunder home games and community events and support content creation, scheduling, reporting, and analysis. Skills in collaboration and listening are crucial as you team up across departments to help others achieve goals using the power of social media.
In this role you will:
• Oversee and ensure the success and growth of the Thunder's social media across various platforms including the accounts associated with the team's mascot, dance team and G League team
• Supervise and provide constructive leadership for a full time social media coordinator, leading department meetings, delegating tasks, setting deadlines, leading workflow, and providing support and development
• Assist with annual budget preparation and business planning and ensure that the department operates within budget throughout the year
• Work cross-functionally with various departments to communicate, organize and implement strategies
• Collaborate closely with the NBA, providing information about our social media approach and analytics
• Help identify new opportunities to demonstrate the Thunder brand to build effective, outreach programs when it comes to social media
• Other duties as assigned
What you'll bring to this role:
• A real passion for social media and knowledge of platforms, trends, tools vital to develop and complete a successful corporate social media strategy
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience including at least 4-5 years of professional experience in digital marketing and social media
• NBA or professional sports experience is helpful but not a requirement
• At least 3 years' experience supervising full-time employees
• Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus
• Outstanding leadership and motivational skills and shown ability to lead by example
• Strong organizational, time management and critical thinking skills
• Able to hone processes and handle multiple projects and deadlines with strong attention to detail
• Budget guardianship experience
• Demonstrated capability to achieve goals through effectively working with multiple departments and teams
• Adaptable with the ability to change and balance opposing demands in a multifaceted work environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and outstanding brand ambassador skills
• Good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality
• Highly proficient working with all platforms of social media, including analytics and monitoring
• Excel in computer applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Photoshop and video editing and graphics tools
Additional Information:
Employees will be required to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. All religious, medical, or other legally recognized exemptions regarding vaccination status will be considered. Work schedule will include regular office hours as well as evenings, weekends and holidays for game nights and events. Primary work location will be the Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City, but out-of-office appointments and travel are expected as you engage with the community. A valid driver's license and sound driving record are required as local and regional travel will be vital, occasionally including overnight trips. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Vice President, Broadcasting and Corporate Communications.
