The School of Theater at Ohio University seeks a Costume Design teaching artist to contribute to the delivery of the overall curriculum of the Production, Design, and Technology Area, and to provide artistic and educational leadership for the MFA and BFA costume design programs.
With a balanced focus on both the theoretical/aesthetic phenomena of theatrical design and the practical applications of realized productions, the School of Theater values process-based methodologies that prepare students to be theater artists, practitioners, and innovators for the 21st century.
The School of Theater is actively seeking an individual who, through personal practice and/or research, will broaden the diversity of perspectives available to our students. As we answer the need for a theater that reflects the contemporary moment and carries us into the future, we encourage Black, Indigenous, and artists of color to apply. The desired candidate will embrace and reflect an anti-racist and multi-cultural view that enables students to be artistic leaders in a more inclusive world.
Responsibilities:
Teach a rotation of modular studio classes in the candidate's area of specialization including but not limited to Costume Design, Costume History, Rendering Techniques, etc.

Supervise and mentor student costume designers throughout their production processes, including concept development, collaboration, and documentation.

-Experience creating, implementing, cultivating, and maintaining a diversity of perspectives in theater training.
-Demonstrative ability to reimagine and decolonize typical ''canonical'' curriculum by engaging with new works that investigate perspectives beyond those of our predominately Western culture.
-A commitment to self-education, cultural awareness, justice, and growth to solidify connections between faculty and students.
-The potential for continued professional design activity.
-Ability to work in a collaborative relationship with faculty and staff.
