Multimedia Journalist

Description:
The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Multimedia Journalist to write stories and produce content for the club. The multimedia journalist will cover the team, with a clear focus aimed at digital platforms and optimized for social networks.
Responsibilities:
• Write engaging and interesting content, features and game stories daily about the A's
• Conduct interviews with players, executives and other team stakeholders
• Produce multimedia content that appeals to key audience targets and maximizes user experience on digital and social platforms
• Work closely with graphic, photo and video teams to optimize and produce content
• Produce videos, digital appearances and podcasts
• Engage with fans through various social media platforms
• Serve as an editor of the Athletics Magazine
• Manage and log all media from shoots
• Transports, sets up, and operates various production equipment including cameras, audio recorders, lighting equipment and microphones for location and studio production
• Assist with other team writing duties
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Strong understanding of baseball; prior experience in professional clubhouses preferred
• Demonstrates strong news judgment and can provide editorial oversight
• Prior experience using social media such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat to enhance reporting and promote stories
• Understands reporting ethics and sourcing
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills, including copy-editing skills
• Prior on-camera experience preferred
• Experience with Photoshop and basic HTML
• Experience in lighting, both sit-down and live shoots
• Knowledge of AVID and After Effects
• Experience with content management systems and web publishing
• Excels in a fast-paced news environment and understands the digital first mission
• Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
• Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously
• Ability to quickly establish credibility with multiple audiences and articulate clearly within tight deadlines
• Ability to work flexible hour including traveling with the team, nights, weekends and holidays
