Manager, Government & Regulatory Affairs (Contract)
The Oakland Athletics (Oakland A's) are seeking a Contract Manager, Government & Regulatory Affairs for the Office of the President. This person will collaborate with local, city and state agency representatives to assess impact of special team initiatives on legislation. The right person will also develop and execute a legislative strategy that will create successful partnerships and ensure that the organization is prepared for External Affairs-related opportunities.
This position will report to the Vice President of External Affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement the External Affairs strategy to advance securing a new Ballpark in Oakland
- Lead legislation initiatives that impact the organization and require coordination across business units, working closely to identify, analyze and assess the degree of the impact
- Serve as the primary point of contact regarding legislation for the organization
- Manage and execute projects within guidelines and timeframe to ensure deliverables are met
- Manage and maintain product and positive key relationships and partnerships with local, city, state and federal agency representatives as well as legislators and regulators, national and state trade associations and coalitions and contract lobbyists
- Establish metrics and measures of success, develop internal and external benchmarks and identify areas of opportunity
- Ensure that Senior Management is kept informed with respect to legislative matters that impact the organizations initiatives
- Partner with internal and external business units to advocate with regulatory agencies
- Manage effective communication with Government and Regulatory affairs agencies
- Serve as advisor on key issues related to legislation
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by the Vice President of External Affairs
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy or other related field
- 5-7 years experience in Government Affairs or related field
- Experience working within Oakland A's communities
- Related project management and communication experience
- Experiencing managing and partnering with internal and external stakeholders with diplomacy
- Ability to work autonomously and with minimal direction
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
