Description:
The Oakland Athletics are currently seeking a Director of Community Engagement. This position is responsible for defining and developing the strategies for the club's CSR goals and objectives. The director will manage the community engagement team and oversee the implementation of community programs, campaigns and initiatives that are strategically aligned to the Oakland A's mission and business objectives. This position will also serve as an internal and external representative of the club's community work.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the development of the the team's community engagement strategic plan
• Build relationships with community organizations, nonprofits and local corporations
• Oversee the implementation of the A's community programs and initiatives
• Act as an internal and external representative for company's CSR policies and projects
• Manage the community engagement team
• Assist in developing, managing and altering the club's social responsibility policies
• Work alongside marketing and communications to help craft and deliver the message of the club's commitment to social responsibility
• Assist the A's Community Fund team with strategy and implementation of Community Fund programming.
• Assist and support with fundraising events to benefit the A's Community Fund
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree with five or more years in a CSR role or related experience
• Experience and success developing community programs
• Experience managing a team
• Understanding of sports philanthropy; experience in sports philanthropy with a team or organization preferred
• Excellent written, verbal and communication skills
• Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
• Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
• Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously
• Ability to quickly establish credibility with multiple audiences and articulate clearly within tight deadlines
• Ability to work flexible hour including nights, weekends and holidays
