The Oakland Athletics are looking for an Analyst to support its Strategy & Business Operations Team. The Strategy &Business Operations team acts as internal consultants for the organization and directly supports key revenue generating departments. This role will analyze business results and provide recommendations on improvements related to Sales, Marketing, Partnerships, Finance and Community Engagement Teams. This position will conduct research and perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis for general business operations and special initiatives.
The right person will interact with team executives, exhibit professionalism, and synthesize information to create and communicate clear and actionable outputs. Most assigned projects will be reactive in nature, but it is important this role have a proactive mindset and be willing to take on the role as a leader. The role requires versatility and the ability to work quickly and calmly under deadlines. We are looking for ''athletes'', dynamic people willing to take on a diverse set of projects that are eager to work in the sports industry.
This position will report into the Director of Strategy & Business Operations.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Leverage knowledge of day-to-day operations to assist in strategic project execution
• Collaborate with department leaders to integrate business processes in organization
• Conduct in-depth research on market trends, consumer preferences and best practices in professional sports
• Develop timelines, milestones and deliverables for projects as assigned across the organization
• Monitor business performance and communicate results, trends and key performance indicators to management
• Perform quantitative data analysis to assist with financial planning, revenue modeling and cost analysis
• Plan and execute strategy team events focused on skill-building, professional development, data training, analytical thinking and positive team culture throughout the organization
• Assist in building dynamic and collaborative networks within the organization while supporting an innovative and inclusive culture
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency
• Other game day and non-game day responsibilities as assigned
• REQUIRED
• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or other
• 1-3 years in sales, strategy, marketing or other business operations role
• Experience with basic office suite software, with a focus on spreadsheets (modeling) and presentation slide building
• Team player, excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED
• Familiarity with a BI/Visual Analytics Tools (Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.)
• Previous experience with collegiate, minor or professional sports organization
