Winter/Spring 2019: January 7th- April 19th
For the past four years, NPR Music has hosted the annual Tiny Desk Contest in search of an undiscovered artist with a talent unlike any other. Previous winners include Fantastic Negrito, Gaelynn Lea, Tank and The Bangas, and most recently in 2018, Naia Izumi. From the Contest open to our winner announce to the national tour that follows, each and every phrase takes tremendous effort on the part of the NPR Events team to keep things moving. For spring 2019, we are looking for a driven, creative and organized intern to join our team and help keep the Tiny Desk Contest and subsequent tour running smoothly. Some travel may be required.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
1. Assist with the moderation process of the Contest
2. Help to produce content for regular Contest community engagement including but not limited to: our weekly newsletter, entries on the NPR Music All Songs Considered blog, and social media platforms.
3. Assist with ticketing and web presence for events
4. Offer hands-on event assistance including talent relations, hospitality, and guest services
5. Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders on ticketing, event marketing, and event production
6. Data entry for event feedback and audience development
We are looking for candidates with any combination of the following:
1. A love of music, the Tiny Desk Contest and other NPR programming
2. Hands-on event production experience
3. Online marketing experience
4. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
5. A positive attitude with problem-solving skills
We are currently only considering intern candidates who can work full-time from NPR’s Washington, DC headquarters. Some flexible hours may be required depending on event schedules.
