Full Time Unpaid Internship
Summer: May 21-Aug 10
The Diversity intern is someone with a passion for helping NPR bring the best of this diverse country to public radio.
In this role, you'll use your skills in reporting and social media to make the Source of the Week resource a valuable asset to journalists at NPR and across the country. You’ll touch all parts of NPR news, helping in our efforts to look and sound like America. In the process you’ll learn as much as your curiosity can handle about radio and digital journalism from some of the country’s most skilled practitioners.
Responsibilities:
— Research potential NPR sources and build Tumblr pages for selected sources
— Coordinate with NPR and public radio station editors who contribute to the Tumblr
— Use social media to connect Source of the Week sources to the broader journalism community
— Craft weekly email newsletter featuring the Source of the Week
— Help as requested on sourcing for breaking news
— Assist Diversity Team in selected, organization-wide workshops and programs
Qualifications:
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal
• Ability to work independently
• Strong social media skills
• An interest in matters of race, ethnicity and culture
