Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! is looking for a Show & Operations Coordinator who can oversee the day-to-day operations and activities of our tapings in Chicago. Our ideal candidate will be highly organized, customer-service oriented, and most importantly—a fan of the show. This is an entry-level position that will also include vendor and office management, providing plenty of room for growth and skill-building.
Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! is NPR's weekly hour-long quiz program. Each week on the radio you can test your knowledge against some of the best and brightest in the news and entertainment world while figuring out what's real news and what's made up. On the Web, you can play along too.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• House management of Chicago tapings.
• Overseeing ticketing for shows using various ticketing software (ShowClix, Eventbrite, Ticketmaster, etc).
• Processing and maintaining of ticketing guests list(s) and donation requests
• Coordination and oversight of merchandise set up and sales
• Coordinating volunteers (10-12 per show)
• Booking travel and accommodations for Chicago shows
• Liaison with NPR Presents team for increased visibility throughout the public media network
• Explore future business development opportunities and other revenue streams
• Assisting with bill payments for panelists, contributors, and vendors
• Performing various administrative tasks as needed in support of NPR Chicago office
• Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
• 1-2 years of experience in a professional and/or theater setting
• Live event planning and production
• Experience managing a theater production or similar
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Customer Service Oriented – gains insights to internal and external customer needs to build and deliver solutions.
• Operates effectively under ambiguous circumstances; adapts approach to respond to different situations.
• Computer literacy (Mac preferred, although not required)
