Full Time Unpaid Internship
Fall 2018: September 10-December 14
The News Operations Department is the lifeblood of the News Division. News Ops designs, provides, and supports the systems and tools for the shows, desks, reporters, producers, and editors to do their work. From daily production, to breaking news and live events, News Operations is where the News Division turns for audio, equipment, training, logistics planning, or resource management.
The News Ops Intern is a unique position affording an individual the opportunity to work closely with not only all of the News departments but with IT and Engineering as well. The News Ops Intern will be right in the heart of all of the action.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with studio bookings
• Escort and set-up guests in the production facilities
• Assist with setting-up audio recordings
• Organize loaner equipment
• Communicate with News Clients, IT, and Engineering
• Assist with coordinating live events and breaking news
• Liaise between interns and News Ops Staff about intern operational needs
• Problem solving
• available to work late evenings and weekends when needed
Qualifications:
• Interest in or experience with radio production
• Familiarity with digital editing systems
• Strong organizational skills
• Experience with database management systems
• Somewhat tech savvy with mobile phones, recording devices, cameras, etc.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle a project and see it through from beginning to end
• Self-starter
