Search for Writer/Producer jobs in Burbank-CA
New Rockstars, a YouTube channel dedicated to unpacking the details of the internet's nerdy obsessions, is hiring a full-time Writer-Producer! Familiarity with IP like Marvel, DC, and Star Wars is ideal. We push a lot of content out the door each week, so a keen attention-to-detail and a nose for potential issues are high priorities. Candidates must be in Los Angeles and willing to commute to Burbank daily. Some of the ideal qualifications for this role are listed below as well as a description of this position's daily responsibilities.
New Rockstars Writer-Producer Duties
Job Requirements:
-One year minimum past employment as a writer, editor (the journalistic kind, not post-production), researcher, producer, or content creator for a well-known news outlet or digital media company that covers entertainment news and/or pop culture trends.
-Must have a minimum of five samples of published content, with applicant's name in the byline or credits, actively linked to a major outlet or brand.
-Must have exceptional research skills and be able to write assigned ''explainer'' type pieces on deadline, within a single workday, at a rate of 1200 words in a four-hour period.
-Must live in the greater Los Angeles area and be willing to work in-person (with COVID precautions) five days per week, 40 hours per week.
-The applicant should have a strong grasp of finding information quickly on social media platforms: YouTube, Twitter, Reddit, etc.
-Applicants should demonstrate knowledge of digital video programming, SEO, analytics, and the merits of a good headline and thumbnail image.
-Ideal applicants have video production experience.
-This position is not for on-camera talent. Actors, hosts, and influencers seeking on-camera opportunities are not encouraged to apply.
Job Duties:
-Position will be expected to produce a minimum of FIVE (5) pieces of content per week, upon assignment from a Director of Programming.
-Content must be written promptly, sometimes with little lead time, covering a rapidly shifting news cycle. Assignments given at the start of a work-day should be written in a four-hour turnaround window.
-Position will be expected to pitch several new topics at the start of every workday and regularly follow newswires and other sources throughout the week.
-The position will be part of a Content Team consisting of other producers, writers, and hosts. They must communicate well, treat others with respect, be open to notes and collaboration, and not take it personally when changes are requested, priorities suddenly shift, or reassignments occur.
-The position will have to write and produce content for existing formats and current talent on the outlet, and will be expected to align with the company's editorial style and voice.
-Position will be expected to coordinate with other departments - operations, sales, production, post-production - to see projects all the way through from the writing stage to publishing.
