The Standards and Practices department is responsible for ensuring that programming and advertising presented on Viacom’s networks meet standards of good taste, community acceptability and matters of compliance.
Nickelodeon Standards and Practices is at the forefront of the children's media and advertising industry in shaping and implementing expanded Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Children's Online Privacy Protection Rule (COPPA) personal identity protections and policies across all of its multi-network digital content, advertising and partnerships. The team works in collaboration with Sales and Integrated Marketing to maximize business goals in a responsible manner.
The Specialist supports and accelerates review and commercial clearance of third party and custom advertising, supporting Ad Sales and Partner Marketing business units and directly impacting Nickelodeon’s bottom line.
The Specialist for Nickelodeon Kids & Family Standards and Practices supports the commercial clearance team by reviewing material, communicating with clients, and entering accurate data and clear instructions in the Wide Orbit database to protect Viacom from FCC violation.The review process extends to ensuring that all third party advertising, as well as internally-created advertising and marketing extensions, comply with FTC regulatory guidelines, industry self-regulation (CARU, MPAA, ESRB, CFBAI) and Nickelodeon best practices.
In addition to commercial clearance, the Specialist will participate in the daily review of commercial logs for Nick, Nicktoons, Nick Jr. and TeenNick to ensure that we comply with the Children’s Television Act. From time to time, the Specialist will provide administrative support and participate in competitive viewing.
Basic Qualifications
• Demonstrable interest in children’s media or advertising industry
• Strong computer skills (Windows, Excel, PowerPoint)
