Full Time Job
Nickelodeon is seeking a Director, Current Series Animation to join the team in Burbank, CA.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Oversee the entire production process, from greenlight to final delivery, of various animated series including but not limited to: budgets, staffing, creative direction and schedules; while maintaining the overall Nickelodeon vision. This includes working on 2-4 animated series consecutively.
• Provide creative notes and direction for all aspects of the production process: premise/outlines/scripts, storyboards, animatics, animation, rough cuts, casting, music, and audio mixes
• At production launch, work closely with series creators, producers, and writers to further develop the series’ story direction and visual style. Also responsible for making creative changes based on focus testing feedback.
• Work closely with our studio production department to help staff the series in all areas: Supervising Producers, Supervising Directors, Story Editors, Writers, Directors, Composers, etc.
• Work with production team and casting department to cast all primary roles for each episode - includes stunt/celebrity casting as well
• Work with producers and post teams to ensure all programs comply with Nick’s creative guidelines and the network’s standards and practices
• Act as the liaison and point person for current series with all lines of business - includes intensive communication, planning and collaboration with Marketing, Programming, NCR, On-Air, Programming, Press, Digital, Recreations, Consumer Products, International, Publishing, Music, Home Video, etc.
• Lead Creative Immersion for each new season so all departments are up to date on creative direction and episodic tent poles
• Work closely with Legal as it relates to script clearance, talent deals and licensing requests
• Supervise content and creative direction for all show-related projects including: Launch Kits, Logos, Press Kits, Style Guides, Social Media content, App content, Short-form content, Graphic Novels/Comics, Podcasts, Recreation, and any other misc. show related projects
• Assist and/or fully produce content for conventions and/or trade events related to series throughout the year: ComicCon, Upfronts, miscellaneous Marketing events, etc.
• Communicate Network initiatives to shows’ Executive Producers/Creators and entire production crew
• Foster positive relationships with show talent. Help to manage talent relations if issues arise
• Works alongside team members to troubleshoot problems and come up with creative solutions to preempt issues before they impact production or management
• Serves as a mentor to junior staff, providing advice and guidance on challenges and opportunities for growth
• Checks-in with junior staff regularly to gauge performance, go over priorities, and discuss concerns
Production:
• Provide feedback for all premises, outlines, scripts, animatics, rough cuts, as well as, all stages of post production through final delivery of every episode
• Manage assets from the production team, and work closely with Current Series Coordinator to distribute assets to all internal partners and/or other lines of business
• Oversee delivery schedules, episode summaries, and loglines monthly to be distributed across all departments
• Communicates Standard & Practices and Legal concerns to production team?
• Shares show updates and creative direction for each season with all lines of business and key stakeholders
• Collaborates with Post Production to ensure a smooth delivery of all final episodes to New York
Projects:
• Work closely with all internal teams to review and provide feedback on their ancillary materials for the show. Ensuring this material reflects the visual and content integrity of show.
• Review/approve all On-Air Promo Scripts and/or Rough Cuts
• Review/approve all Social Media Content and all Short Form Content
• Coordinates with Production to deliver press art, launch kit art, sizzle reels, and various production materials to share with internal teams
• Collaborates with Marketing and NCR to create the series Launch Kit
• Review and provide critical feedback on comics, graphic novels and/or manuscripts for publishing, often working with multiple partners internally and externally
• Manage/oversee all panel content and work closely with production team to craft the panels creative direction
• Attend and provide feedback on pitches from outside vendors
• Coordinate with Consumer Products to ensure quality control with executive producers on products
• Provide guidance and creative input on various Nick Recreation projects
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum 8 years of animation production experience
Additional Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Network or studio experience preferred
• Love of television – specifically kids programming
• Keen understanding of Nickelodeon brand and culture
• Strong creative sensibility and point of view
• Strong written and oral communication skills, coupled with ability to listen actively
• Strong leadership skills; comfort with managing people and processes without formal reporting accountability
• Strong diplomatic/negotiation/influencing skills
• Strong relationships (or the ability to quickly develop such relationships) throughout the Nickelodeon organization and in the broader external creative community (particularly with writers/producers/show-runners)
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to understand and assimilate qualitative and quantitative research data
• Ability to perform well under pressure

• Highly collaborative; comfortable working with creative people and business people at all levels of seniority and experience
