Full Time Job
The Research Director will be a member of Nickelodeon’s Content Insights Research Team, which supports all of Nickelodeon’s content research, including digital, animation and live action development, acquisition, and current series. The Content Insights Research Director will oversee and manage qualitative and quantitative research projects that support Nickelodeon Studios as well as NY-based acquisitions and co-productions, Marketing, and Network management. This position reports into the VP, Content Insights.
Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities include:
• Design, manage, and oversee content-related research projects from start to finish utilizing qualitative, quantitative, and innovative methodologies to support content development and execution
• Guide all phases of research projects including methodological design, survey writing, discussion guide development, fieldwork, analysis, report writing and dissemination/presentation of findings
• Attend and independently manage focus groups/qualitative research; provide project leadership to internal clients as well as research vendors
• Ability to create and deliver actionable insights, analysis, and reporting that will actively inform key creative decisions and direction
• Leverage expertise of content trends to identify opportunities to target Nickelodeon’s core demo
• Represent research findings and other presentations to Studio Executives, Senior Management, and Content Creators
• Maintain and develop vendor relationships, building upon Nickelodeon’s Best Practices while being on top of emerging, innovative methodologies
Basic Qualifications
• College Degree required; degree in communications, business, market research, or child psychology a plus.
• Minimum 8 years experience in both qualitative and quantitative consumer research, preferably in a position within a studio or content creation platform (television, digital, or multi-platform), or market research vendor specializing in entertainment
• Strong communication skills; must be comfortable presenting to both small and large groups, both informally and formally, including Studio and Network executives, Creative and Show Production teams
• Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, with ease in finding stories in both qualitative and quantitative data
• Strong writing skills, with the ability to express complex ideas and findings into concise, actionable reports and presentations
• A self-starter with strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects at any time
• Management experience required
• Travel and evening research attendance required
• A team player with a true passion for kid-centric entertainment strongly preferred
Additional Qualifications
• Prior content research experience strongly preferred; experience in a kids-oriented environment a plus
