Archivist I
Overview and Responsibilities
Nickelodeon Animation is looking to fill an Archivist I position in a fun, fast-paced production/studio environment. This is an entry level archivist position and is ideal for recent graduates of an MLIS program or similar degree. Under the supervision of the Sr. Manager, the Archivist I will be responsible for owning the day-to-day operations of NAL and balancing the maintenance of Nickelodeon’s physical and digital collections. The NAL environment is dynamic and varied, so the ideal candidate should be an excellent teammate who is adaptable, able to multi-task, and willing to wear several different hats.
Responsibilities
, include, but are not limited to:
• Managing the expeditious execution of requests from various partners, including executives, internal teams, and staff
• Selecting, cataloging, maintaining, making available, and responsible for the delivery of archived assets of Nickelodeon productions and businesses, including artwork, props, costumes, production records, film, photography, media assets, and marketing & publicity materials
• Digitizing, applying metadata, and digital file management/processes using a DAM system and other related solutions
• Assist with documenting and updating archive and library processes and procedures
• Assist with curating and maintaining studio artwork displays, including physical or digital assets
• Build and edit clips for video wall, showcasing past productions
• Research collection materials
• Assist with outreach and related programming
Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in an archival or similar field
• Ability to lift 40 lbs independently and assist with moving heavy materials on and off-site
• Manual dexterity to work with fragile collections
• Excellent customer service, communication, and writing skills
• Proficient with efficiency software, project management tools, and technology skills
Additional Qualifications
• Master’s degree as well as knowledge of production/entertainment industry preferred
• Ability to maintain focus in a face-paced studio environment with frequent interruptions
• Attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Self-starter that can work independently or within a team
• Ability to balance short-term and long-term projects
