Summary:
Nick Animation Studio is looking for a Supervising Director for one of its CG animated shows! This person will work with key production personnel in overseeing storyboards and animatics.
Responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Co-EPs to ensure the creative vision of the series is accomplished, ensuring consistency of camera, lens choices, composition, blocking, and layout throughout the series.
• Collaborate with the Directors and editorial team to ensure cohesive pacing, tone and timing, and comedy throughout the entire show.
• Supervise a team of 3 Directors, 6 storyboard artists, 3 storyboard revisionists, and 3 animatic editors.
• Manage all assignments in the Animatics department.
• Thoroughly review storyboards for animatics and shipping.
• Attend all storyboard pitches and give appropriate notes.
• Aid in the implementation of notes as needed.
• Communicate to appropriate key production personnel the status of work and any problems that may arise; suggest appropriate solutions to the problems.
• Work with the production team to supervise the organization of designs per the storyboards.
• Regularly monitor progress to ensure the storyboard assignments are completed on time and of appropriate quality. Answer questions from Directors and/or storyboard artists as needed.
• Supervise animatics and review their work for accuracy; give corrections and guidance where needed.
• Oversee completion of storyboard revisions.
• Assist with special projects.
Qualifications:
• CG Production experience required, live action experience a plus.
• Knowledge of film making and camera lens choices a plus.
• Extensive storytelling and storyboard experience.
• Ability to adhere to the production schedule
• Thorough understanding of CG animation pipeline.
• Ability to work in high pressure, demanding environment.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
• Good time management skills
Desired qualifications:
• BA/BS preferred.
• A minimum of 3 – 5 years of storyboard directing experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
