Human Resources Generalist
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Executive Director, Human Resources
Job Classification: Non-Exempt
Description:
The Human Resources department supports 250 full-time New York Yankees Front Office employees and 800 part-time employees under River Operating, Inc.
The Human Resources Manager supports the Executive Director, Human Resources in all tactical areas of Human Resources including recruitment and talent management, training and development, benefits administration and employee/labor relations.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Assist employees with all Human Resources related matters
• Perform all recruiting functions; including posting jobs, resume screening, interviewing and candidate tracking for all positions
• Manage employee relations issues for full-time Non-Exempt employees and all part-time staff
• Point of contact for all Union employees
• Oversee the on-boarding process; conduct new-hire orientation, arrange for equipment and office space and manage payroll and benefits set-up
• Supervise termination and exiting for full-time employees
• Point of contact for FMLA, STD, PFL and NYC Sick Leave; work closely with employees and insurance carriers (if applicable) to ensure all leaves are handled appropriately and timely; process paperwork and track employee leaves of absence; work closely with Payroll department to ensure payroll accuracy during leaves of absence
• Maintain all personnel files and ensure they are current and compliant
• Point of contact for employee verifications
• Oversee all unemployment correspondence in a timely manner including: benefits requests, protests and related issues
• Maintain the Human Resources page on internal intranet site
• Support Assistant Director with employee time processing and related issues
• Oversee the year-end performance review process
• Assist Executive Director with Major League Baseball projects and surveys
• Maintain all bulletin boards and ensure they are current and compliant
• Perform additional duties and assist with projects as assigned
Qualifications
and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field of study
• Minimum 5 years experience in Human Resources, preferably in a generalist role
• Proven ability to maintain highly confidential and sensitive information
• Proficiency in MS (Microsoft) Office suite (Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
• Experience using ABI (Mastermind) and Microsoft CRM databases preferred
• Strong knowledge of applicable New York State, City and Federal employment laws, regulations and policies
• Prior experience managing leave of absence programs
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally
• Prior experience with Unions and Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred
• Requires continual attention to detail and high level of organization
• Competence in various Human Resources functional areas: onboarding/off boarding, employee relations, recruiting, training, and compensation
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Proven leadership ability
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends, holidays)
