SUMMARY:
A primary goal of the Financial Operations department is to provide accurate and timely financial information to senior management and ownership to make informed business decisions. Further, we support all departments through various strategic projects and analyses. This position requires a detail-oriented, autonomous and motivated individual willing to work extended hours.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assist in all areas of company-wide financial reporting; including annual budgets, interim projections and monthly cash flow forecasts
• Evaluate the financial impact of major & minor league player transactions; including the management of tracking files related to player salaries
• Perform analytical reviews, financial modeling and ad-hoc analyses for various department heads to assist in the evaluation of their aspects of the business
• Day-to-day execution of the game-used authentication program and coordination of NYY's relationship with Steiner Sports
• Gain an understanding of the revenue sharing rules and how those rules apply to certain business transactions. Gain an understanding of the revenue sharing calculation and run scenario analyses to determine possible future outcomes
• Assist senior management in the evaluation of prospective business arrangements / opportunities, ticketing initiatives, changes to business practices
• Preparation of robust financial documents to be submitted to Major League Baseball (interim and full-year updates, as well as 3-year Long Range Plans)
• Analyze and evaluate historical financial information to better develop future projections
• Create dashboards & new tools to better disseminate information throughout the organization
• Provide support for external audits and annual MLB revenue sharing audit
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree with a major in finance, accounting, business administration, economics or a related field
• 1-2 years of full-time work experience in accounting, financial analysis/reporting, investment banking, consulting, business development or strategic planning preferred
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Proven time management and organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels both internally and externally
• Flexible work schedule (nights, weekends and holidays)
