JOB SUMMARY:
The House Manager is responsible for supervising and directing the front of house staff during Jordan Hall performances and other NEC concerts. In addition to holding the student house staff to the highest professional standard, the manager is responsible for coordinating front of house activities with backstage and the box office and ensuring the best possible costumer service for all patrons. This position reports to the Digital Marketing and Box Office Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise the usher team of student workers while encouraging and fostering the highest level of customer service.
- Ensure enforcement of all NEC policies.
- Coordinate a safe and quick hall entrance by helping to direct patrons and scan tickets, while coordinating backstage and working alongside the Box Office.
- Ensure that the ambiance, appearance, and general condition of lobby, hall, restrooms and other patron accessible areas of the facilities are appropriate, coordinating with others to resolve any issues.
- Interact with patrons while welcoming them and answering their questions.
- Field and address patron concerns and complaints.
- Provide leadership during emergency situations, lead hall evacuations and other safety related procedures.
- In collaboration with the Box Office Manager, provide support to external rental organizations before, during, and after performances.
- Complete and file daily concert reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of front of house experience.
- At least one year of supervisory or management experience.
- A proven record of excellent customer service skills.
- Very strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to move equipment/boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to implement safe and quick emergency evacuations.
- Ability to maintain composure and professionalism in a stressful and fast-paced environment.
