Netflix, the leading online movie & television subscription service, seeks a Senior Employment Counsel to join our smart and talented Employment Legal team. This position is based in Netflix's Singapore office, and reports to the Director of Employment Legal in Los Gatos, CA.

So the ideal candidate will welcome the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced and entrepreneurial company, providing legal employment support in Asia as we grow.
As a member of Netflix's Employment Legal team, the Senior Employment Counsel, Employment Legal, will:
• Advise in collaboration with members of Talent, Employee Services, various production teams, and other business groups on employment-related matters in the APAC region (Netflix currently has offices in India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, and Taiwan);
• Provide subject matter expertise and, when appropriate, training on a broad range of employment issues, including recruiting, contingent workers, wage and hour, employment practices, and terminations, including with respect to streaming employees and cast/crew members on productions shooting in various countries throughout APAC;
• Proactively identify, assess, and balance employment law risk, and be able to offer practical, business - oriented and creative solutions in partnership with the business teams;
• Stay abreast of, and advise Netflix on, meaningful employment-related legal developments;
• When necessary, manage employment-related litigation in APAC;
• Actively collaborate with the employment team on global projects and issues;
• Select, manage and use outside counsel effectively; and
• Support Netflix's commitment to maintaining a diverse and inclusive harassment-free workplace.
Requirements
The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer in the US or a country in APAC (Singapore preferred), and have at least 10 years of big firm and/or in-house experience in employment counseling on employment issues throughout APAC. Time spent advising on employment issues arising on productions as well as employment litigation experience in one or more countries in APAC is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will also possess the following:
• Deep knowledge of employment laws throughout APAC, with some experience advising on employment issues in Singapore, Japan, Korea, and India;
• Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment;
• Ability to consistently exercise great judgment without agonizing, resulting in immediate action and smart decisions;
• Ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally, think practically, be solution-oriented, and keep a cool head in high-stress situations;
• Be open-minded and able to pivot if the business needs change; and
• A wicked sense of humor.
