The Role
The ideal candidate will manage a team of Specialists to maintain and optimize the Netflix Digital Archive, a highly scaled cloud archive solution for all Netflix digital production assets
The role will involve working closely with Asset Management and Netflix Cloud Engineering teams to develop standardized archival processes for the Studio, to include indexing, cataloging, storage, search and retrieval of digital and physical assets, establishing and maintaining the taxonomy and ontology of the Digital Archive.
In this role you will:
• Create and implement Retention policies for efficient archiving, understanding the business case for what we ask for, what we keep, what we put into deep archive and what we delete.
• Implement controlled vocabularies and title registries in the archive; suggest and vet new vocabulary additions.
• Work closely with Asset Management and Netflix Cloud Engineering teams to implement modifications and improvements to digital assets database structure and categories.
• Work closely with Post Operations and Content Hub Product and Engineering teams across the development of automated verification and validation tools for Netflix digital production assets ingested into the Digital Archive.
• Be responsible for creating best practices and workflows to ensure quality control and the tracking and reporting of errors/fixes during the ingest stage and thereafter across Netflix digital production assets.
• Be responsible for accurate workflow documentation, data analysis and modelling, and ongoing data verification activities, to ensure continued good health and useability of archive.
• Conduct research utilizing internal and external data sets, including historical or obsolete legacy data sets, thereby ensuring accurate, complete and timely reporting of the archive's digital and physical inventory of moving image, sound, document and data assets.
• Oversee the management and preservation of physical media assets such as 35mm film and LTO tape. Create a plan to migrate the LTO library into the Netflix Digital Archive.
Qualifications:
• College degree preferred or additional production certificate programs
• 15 years of experience within medium to high budget studios, networks or high volume production companies
• 5 years of experience leading a team
• Experience and deep knowledge of managing large data sets
• Ability to handle a heavy volume of work
• Strong organizational skills with proactive mentality
• Have creative problem-solving abilities
• Knowledge of digital audio and video file formats
• Highly organized, efficient, and detail oriented
• Ability to respond after hours for important, timely, or urgent matters
• Team-player who thrives in a fast paced, team-oriented setting
