Netflix, the world's leading Internet-television network, is seeking an individual to join its growing EMEA public policy team. This person will have responsibility for managing and implementing government relations and public policy campaigns directly relevant to the operation and growth of Netflix's business in the EU.
The ideal candidate will have experience working with European institutions and with complicated legal, regulatory, and policy issues that bridge the Brussels-based institutions and EU Member States. He or She will have deep experience of media, culture and digital policy (AVMS, Copyright, Digital single market, cultural levies etc.).
The ideal candidate will have experience working in multi-cultural and fast-paced environments. He or she will be a self starter but also perform well in teams. Success in this role requires translating complex political, regulatory, and legal issues into simple messages for our business teams who the candidate would be required to know with on a regular basis.
Part of the role will also require drafting policy papers as well as organising campaigns and events to advance those messages. Experience of setting up and running alliances and working to achieve coordinated industry advocacy will be useful, as well as experience in public affairs events.
The Netflix legal and public policy team is a highly talented and experienced group of lawyers and public policy experts who work in close partnership with their business counterparts to advance the strategic goals of the company. The team is perceived within the company as solutions-oriented and as a welcome part of the Netflix business team.
This role is based in Brussels and reports to Netflix's Director of EU Public Policy. The successful candidate will have at least the following qualifications:
• 5 years of public policy and government relations experience with European Union institutions, in particular with the European Parliament
• Experience of working in media, cultural or digital organisations
• Strong written and verbal English language skills and fluency in at least another European language,
• Experience of engage directly with politicians and policy-makers/governments in Brussels and other Member States
• Strong organisational and communication skills
